GAME RULES
Master the board. Dominate your opponent.
🎯 Objective
WolfSheep is an asymmetric strategy game for two players:
- Wolf (Red): Wins by stepping onto the opponent's cell (capturing the Sheep).
- Sheep (Green): Wins by reaching the last row (row 8 — the Wolf's starting side).
🏁 Starting Position
Wolf starts at the bottom-center: row 8, column 4.
Sheep starts at the top-center: row 0, column 4.
Each player begins with 10 walls.
🦶 Movement
On your turn, you must do one of the following:
- Move your piece to an adjacent cell (up, down, left, or right).
- Jump over the opponent if they are standing in an adjacent cell and the cell behind them is free.
- Diagonal jump: If you face the opponent and there is a wall or the board edge right behind them, you may move diagonally to either side.
🧱 Walls
- Each player starts with 10 walls.
- A wall spans 2 cells (one edge between two adjacent cells).
- Walls can be placed horizontally or vertically.
- Walls cannot overlap or intersect other walls.
- Critical rule: You cannot completely block the opponent's path to their goal. There must always be at least one valid route.
⏱ Time Control
Choose from three time modes:
- ⚡ 1+5 (Blitz): 1 minute initial + 5 seconds per move.
- 🔥 3+2 (Standard): 3 minutes initial + 2 seconds per move.
- 💎 5 min (Classic): 5 minutes, no increment.
Running out of time means an instant loss.
🏆 Winning Conditions
- Wolf wins by landing on the Sheep's cell (capture).
- Sheep wins by reaching any cell in row 8.
- Timeout: The player whose clock runs out loses.
- Surrender: A player may resign at any time.
💡 Tips
- As Wolf: Use walls to create a cage around the Sheep. Cut off escape routes early.
- As Sheep: Stay mobile. Use walls to slow the Wolf down and create multiple paths to the goal.
- Don't waste walls — 10 may seem like a lot, but they run out fast!
- Always check if your wall placement leaves the opponent a valid path to their goal.
